ISMA(Indian Sugar Mills Association) is demanding for increase in minimum selling price of sugar from curent Rs.31 per Kg to Rs.38 per kg in view of production cost. Also demanding for the increase of productions capacity of ethenol by 400 crore litre from curent 700 crore litre to 1000-1100 litre capacity. According to ISMA it will require an additional investment of Rs.17500 crore. ISMA has projected a sugar production of 31.7 million tons for 2023-24 after diversion of 145 lakh tons for ethonol production. Opening stock of Sugar for the new sugar season in estimated at 55 lakh tons. During last year India produced 32.8 million tons of Sugar after diverting 42 lakh tons of ethenol.
